Privacy policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
Juanderreel is a personal project run by Adrian Jenson. It exists to replay real trips on animated maps. It is not a business, it does not sell anything, and it is built to collect as little about you as possible. This page explains, plainly, what does and does not happen with your data when you use it.
The short version
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels, no trackers of any kind.
- Browsing the site sets no cookies.
- You cannot create an account, and nothing ever asks you to.
- Photos you use in the photo location check never leave your device.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing. There is nothing to sell.
What the site collects
Just browsing: nothing is collected by Juanderreel itself. Like almost every website, the hosting infrastructure (Google Firebase App Hosting, running in Singapore) keeps standard, short-lived server logs (things like IP address, request URL, and browser type) which are used only for operating and debugging the site.
Photo location check: the photo check tool reads your photos entirely inside your browser. The photo file itself is never uploaded and never leaves your device. If a photo contains GPS coordinates, only those coordinates are sent to the site’s server, which asks OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service to turn them into a place name. The coordinates are not stored.
Place search: if you type a place name into a search box on the site, that query is forwarded to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service to find matching places, and is not stored by Juanderreel.
Third-party services the site relies on
When a page shows a map, your browser fetches map tiles directly from the tile provider: Mapbox, or OpenFreeMap as a fallback. Like any server you connect to, the provider sees your IP address and browser type, governed by its own privacy policy. Photos and videos on trip pages are served from Google Firebase Storage. The site’s fonts are bundled with the site itself, so no font service is contacted.
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud: hosting, storage, authentication
- Mapbox: map tiles
- OpenFreeMap: fallback map tiles
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: place name lookups
Whose photos are these, anyway?
The trips, photos, and videos published on Juanderreel belong to the site owner and are of the owner’s own travels. Visitors cannot upload or publish content on this site.
Children
The site does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. There is simply no mechanism on the site that asks for it.
Changes to this policy
If the site ever starts doing more than what is described here (for example, if visitor accounts are added someday), this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
